Baseball in 30 seconds

How the game works.

Two teams, nine players in the field, taking turns on offense and defense. The basic idea is simple:

  1. Pitch

The pitcher throws the ball towards home plate, trying to outsmart the batter.

  2. Hit

The batter tries to hit the ball into play – ideally where no fielder is standing.

  3. Run

After the hit, it is base to base. Make it safely back to home plate and you score a run.

  4. Catch

The defense catches, throws and gets runners out. After three outs, the teams switch roles.
